◕‿◕  ABOUT ME

Hello.

My name is Emma.

I am a writer, researcher, and all-round nerd lord. My research interests are diverse and include gender, media entrepreneurship, the future of work, and the ethics of emerging technology. I am watching all the screens, all the time.

Over the course of my career, I have received multiple awards and prizes for my scholarly work, my journalism and my fiction. I write a *lot*. My latest book is Misogyny Online: A Short (and Brutish) History. It got some reviews that made me really happy.

I also do heaps of the media and the talking and have presented the findings of my research to the Australian Human Rights Commission and the Australian government's Workplace Gender Equality Agency. I regularly speak at large-ish public events such as the Festival of Dangerous Ideas at the Sydney Opera House.

On the weekends, I make GIFs of my three dogs, use code to build artefacts of great beauty and terror, and read books about how to read books by Wittgenstein.

I may also have invented this cheerleading emoticon:
